ART A Novel of Extreme Horror and Gore eBook Matt Shaw Michael Bray
I hate Matt Shaw! I just finished Art and my brain cannot function. Usually I move on to a new book right away but it’s not going to happen. The last twenty pages blew my mind and I cannot function. I was disturbed on a level that I’ve never been this disturbed before. The images that I created in my head using his words will be burned into my mind for a long time. I already don’t get enough sleep because of my two kids and now, because of Matt Shaw, I doubt I’ll get any sleep at all. I hate you….. but I loved every minute of it."I realized how dark the blackness really was. For this, someone would need to invent a darker colour to have described the state of my soul."
Art is the brainchild of Matt Shaw. With the help of author Michael Bray, who I hate now too but not as much, they put together an awesome book. Matt’s deranged killer is hardly one dimensional. He has a great backstory, strange delusions about how people will react to him and shows growth in character throughout the novel that is confusing and exciting for him. He is perfectly opposed by the Michael Bray’s Detective Andrews. Again, this is not a one dimensional cardboard character. He has a lot of issues expressing his emotions to his pregnant wife. He worries about bringing a child into such a dangerous world. That’s where our killer comes in. He leaves his victims in macabre positions that he considers art(hence the title). He plays mindgames with the detective. He makes it personal.
The two authors drew on each other’s styles and perfectly merged to create a seamless book. I would highly recommend both authors and if you haven’t read anything from either, this would be a great place to start.
Shaw vs. Bray. Who will survive when the dust settles? Read the book and find out.

ART A Novel of Extreme Horror and Gore eBook Matt Shaw Michael Bray Reviews
Have read several of Matt Shaws books, and never been disappointed. King is my favorite, but this guy writes like King on acid. The only thing that could have made this any better would be Martin killing Alex. That's the reason I say you can count your friends on one hand and still have fingers left. Great Read
Matt is at the top of his game writing as our friendly, neighborhood serial killer – Arthur, (just Art – for pals like us). Michael is penning the role of Officer Martin Andrews, the cop who catches Art’s interest, and becomes involved in his ‘game’, and his quest for notoriety.
I couldn’t stop reading this! The authors worked so well together, it was seamless.
It’s suspenseful, it’s gross, it’s emotional. It’s perfect.
It’s SE7EN, if SE7EN were written by Shaw & Bray.

First of all I was given a free copy of this book for a group read which I wasn't able to participate in because of an emergency at the time. I just have to say I have loved every Matt Shaw book I've ever read. This is by far one of my favorites. I loved the serial killer Art in this story. He was sick and twisted from the start but then came the detective who without really meaning to dared him to get even more sick and twisted. The detective's character was written by Michael Bray and the serial killer was written by Matt Shaw. What an amazing collaboration! Two amazing authors! One amazing book! I highly recommend it!
Despite the fact that it wasn't extremely gory as indicated in the title it was a very good read for those of us who enjoy reading crime stories. It was more of a good crime novel with an extremely creepy serial killer who successfully accomplished what he set out to do when he started his killing spree. That made for a great, yet surprising ending. Never saw it coming. Would definitely recommend.
I am an Attending Physician that runs an urban Level 1 Trauma Center. I am not easily disturbed or affected by what I see or read. However, Matt Shaw's "ART" is perhaps the most shocking thing that I have ever seen or read!I I completed the book 3 days ago, and I am still haunted by it!
That being said, if you love real horror, do yourself a favor and buy this book.
If you are a fan of really dark horror, then you MUST read this book.
I'm a little surprised it took two people to write this book, considering how dull and predictable it was. Extreme horror and gore can usually mask bad writing, and usually Matt Shaw isn't a bad writer. But this felt like both the world's longest and easiest police case. Perhaps the dual points of perspective made the narrative feel tedious, or perhaps it was the bland, overused "killer artist" trope, but ART did not a thing for me. Not to mention, the climax can be seen from the third chapter. I feel like this is the kind of run of the mill horror/thriller you pick up at the airport and throw away after.
Yeah, I'm back with another one of my Matt Shaw fix ... and this time Matt introduced me to his friend Michael Bay. Now, I've read a few author collaborations and well, I've been unimpressed as one author tends to blatantly outshine the other, causing the story to be choppy and inconsistent. THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE. Both Matt and Michael's writing read in equal footing. Their story turned out flawlessly horrific.
ART is a story of a struggling artist named Arthur Benton . Art would kill to be famous... I mean that literally . He's proud of his work, aroused by his work and believes his work will astound the massses .
Now onto our "its a *bleep** up world we live in" Po-Po extraordinaire, Martin Andrews. Years of viewing one brutal crime scene after the other has taken its toll on Officer Andrews. His pregnant wife is in her last trimester and what should be a joyous time in his life, is anything but for him . You see, Martin doesn't want to bring a child into a world full of dangerous people. Such thoughts take a toll on him both personally and professionally, especially once he gets of glimpse of Arthur's newest masterpiece.
A frantic game of cat and mouse takes place and folks, this competition isn't over until the fat lady sings.. ...even then one of them gets the last say.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE consider the warning. Both authors are brilliant but if you haven't t dipped your toe into the murky horror waters this is probably NOT the best story to start with.
